Privacy notice

Who we are

EmiMine is operated by the Net-Zero Carbon Emission Lab (NCEL), Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, Ghana. This notice explains what personal data the platform holds and why.

What we collect

• Account data: your name, work email address, organisation and role, a hashed password and, if you enable it, a two-factor secret.
• Security data: sign-in times, the IP address and browser of each session, and an audit record of actions taken in an organisation.
• Enquiries: what you send through the contact and request-access forms.
• We do not use advertising or analytics trackers, and the only cookies are for signing in, form protection and messages after an action.

Why

To run the service you or your organisation asked for, to keep it secure, and to answer your enquiries. Organisation data (inventories, scenarios, disclosures) belong to that organisation and are processed on its instructions.

Sharing

We do not sell personal data. Disclosures are shared only with the reviewer the operator chooses, and published only with both parties' consent. Our hosting provider (DigitalOcean) processes data on our behalf.

Retention

Sessions expire after a period of inactivity. Audit records are kept for at least seven years. Enquiries are kept for two years. You can ask us to close your account.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your personal data, for corrections, or for deletion, subject to your organisation's legitimate records. Write to us through the contact page. Ghana's Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843) applies.
