EmiMineThe carbon ledger for mining
Built in Ghana · for every mining country

The carbon ledger for mining.

EmiMine measures, reconciles and reports greenhouse-gas emissions from mining, from a single mine's fuel log to a country's national inventory. One method, one dataset, every number with its uncertainty.

4.7 MtCO₂e from Ghana's mining sector in 2022 (3.8–6.0)

One platform

From the pit to the national inventory

Five connected modules share one factor library and one national dataset, so a mine's footprint, its disclosure and the country's inventory always agree.

Mine carbon calculator

Turn a mine's fuel, power, explosives, refrigerant and land records into an audited Scope 1, Scope 2 and land-use footprint.

  • IPCC 2006 factors computed from first principles, with every line traceable
  • Location- and market-based Scope 2, including independent power producers
  • Land cleared, by forest type, with NID1 carbon stocks and a low–high range

Decarbonisation planner

Build a route to 2035 from your own baseline: diesel efficiency, fleet electrification, renewable power, a cleaner grid and avoided clearance.

  • Year-by-year baseline and scenario, abatement attributed to each lever exactly once
  • Optional costs give a marginal abatement cost per tonne
  • Compare with the national sector pathways

Disclosure & reporting

Prepare the ten-field mine emissions disclosure, run automatic checks, send it to a reviewer and publish it with two-sided consent.

  • Pre-filled from the calculator
  • Seven plausibility checks before a reviewer sees it
  • Review trail, returns and acceptance in one place
More about disclosure & reporting →

National Ledger & CRT workbench

See where each tonne of a country's mining carbon sits in the national inventory, and download CRT-format files for the inventory team.

  • Reallocation of the footprint into IPCC and CRT categories
  • Land clearance with the inventory's own carbon pools
  • 27 CRT workbooks with a decision register and draft wording

Multi-country toolkit

Set up the same reconciliation for another gold-producing country: data checklist, component inputs, category mapping and exports.

  • Ghana as the worked reference
  • Readiness score from a ten-item data checklist
  • Reconciliation by label status as soon as data are entered

How it works

Measure, reconcile, report, reduce

  1. Measure

Enter fuel, power, explosives, refrigerants, land cleared and production. EmiMine applies documented factors line by line.

  2. Reconcile

See where each tonne sits in the national inventory: labelled as mining, in totals under another label, or unlabelled.

  3. Report

Produce a checked ten-field disclosure and CRT-format files, reviewed by the body that needs them.

  4. Reduce

Plan diesel cuts, electrification, renewable power and avoided clearance, with abatement attributed to each lever.

Why trust it

Transparent by design

  • Every factor is traceable. Fuel factors are computed from IPCC 2006 defaults; land uses the national inventory's own carbon stocks.
  • Uncertainty is shown, not hidden. Medians with 95% ranges; sums of medians are labelled as such.
  • Your data stay yours. Organisation data are private; disclosures are published only with two-sided consent.
  • No site is ever located. Artisanal and informal mining appears only as national totals.
  • Everything is audited. Every change is recorded in an audit log your administrators can read.

Alignment means EmiMine's fields and categories map to these frameworks. It is not a certification.

Unlabelled is not the same as missing. Most of Ghana's mining carbon is probably already in the national totals, just not called mining.
Beyond Ghana

A method that travels

Artisanal gold mining is a large and poorly counted source wherever it happens. GhaMEM's indicative global extension puts artisanal gold mining at about 20.5 Mt CO₂e a year (12.4–34.9). The multi-country toolkit lets any national team set up the same reconciliation with its own data.
